The story of vintage boots

For much of the early 20th century, boots were part of every woman's wardrobe. In the 1900s and 1910s, lace-up and button boots were worn every day under long skirts. As hemlines rose in the 1920s, shoes took over for everyday wear, and boots became the practical choice for walking, work and winter. Through the 1930s and 1940s, sturdy lace-up ankle boots, lined snow boots and military-inspired styles kept women warm and on the move, while the 1950s brought elegant heeled ankle boots and booties.

Our vintage boots collection spans this whole period and is based on original designs. You will find Edwardian lace-up boots with a pompadour heel, everyday walking boots from the 1910s and 1920s, 1930s lace-up ankle boots, 1940s military and winter boots, and 1950s heeled ankle boots. Each style keeps the details of its decade, from the shape of the toe to the height of the shaft.

Most styles are handcrafted in soft full-grain leather or suede. Our everyday boots have leather outsoles that let the foot breathe and soften with wear, while our winter boots are wool-lined and have rubber soles for extra grip.

Vintage boots are made to be worn, not kept for special occasions. Many styles have soft silicone inserts beneath the leather insole, and the heels are shaped for balance and stability, so you can walk in them all day.
