Early 1940s everyday lace-up shoes - Black - Emily

Absolutely love these shoes! They were the first Memery shoes I saw online but then I actually bought the Luise in black (which I worn loads and love, too). But now I finally have a pair of Emily shoes to add to my collection. I love the colour (Nougat). I’m a size 5 and they fit without being too loose or too tight, if anything I’d say they seem slightly larger than my Luise size 5s which are a perfect fit but snug. I can’t wait to wear them to 1940s events in 2026.

Due to bad hips n feet forced to wear trainers. First shoes for years that look gorgeous, smart AND comfortable.

These were a gift for a dear friend and she absolutely adores them. She said ‘they’re beautiful and fit like a dream’. Hers are a size 8 in a wide fit, I have a 7 wide - and they are the best fitting shoes I own. I’ve had mine for three years and they’re doing fine. A bit slippy on the soles when the pavement is wet, but this doesn’t detract from their quality in my opinion; a feature of 1940s shoes!

Well made very comfortable shoes

Thrilled to have shoes in my size! I usually take a 3.5, if I can find anything in that size, and then struggle to get anything like enough width. I used the measurement chart supplied by Memery, and their wide size 3 is perfect for me. The Emily in cognac only arrived the day before a 1940s event, so I did have to use the hairdryer and spoon, but if there was time to wear them in, you wouldn't need to do that as they are a very good fit. These shoes are sturdy and feel as if they will last for ever. I wore them all afternoon and danced in tarmac in them. I love them.

If I could give more than five stars I’d give ten. I was amazed at how beautiful these shoes are. Perfect fit, beautiful leather. Will definitely purchase from this seller again.

I'm a 1940s re-enactor, part of a two-woman Home Front team and really needed some authentic looking shoes for our events. I take a wide fitting, so wearing original shoes is not an option; these shoes look wonderful and feel even better. I stood all day at a VE 80th Anniversary event and could have gone out dancing afterwards! So comfortable, so pretty - can't wait to buy some more styles!

These shoes are extremely comfortable. They are very well-made and a beautiful deep brown colour. They are perfect vintage shoes and will complete any vintage outfit. As usual, Memery has come up trumps again!

I have real problems finding shoes to wear with dresses which are pretty and practical as I can no longer wear stilettos and I do lots of walking. These are very comfortable, practical and make me feel dressed. I though they were a bit big when I first tried them on but I decided to keep them as they tied and the smaller size would be too small. Glad I did as I’ve had no knee or back pain since wearing them. Although a little expensive, I will be having more as I would rather 1 pair of Memery shoes than 2 from somewhere else. Some pretty colours in the lower heel leather styles would be fantastic although I appreciate that might not be true to the eras of the shoes.
